Division Structure

Medicine Hat Little League is pleased to announce the division structure for the 2017 season.

LITTLE SLUGGERS

When: Mondays & Wednesdays (Some Saturdays) -  6pm to 7pm - End of April until Middle of June.

Where: Ross Glenn School Diamonds and Vincent Massey School Diamonds

Who:  Players Age 4 and 5 


The Little Sluggers division's goal is to introduce kids to the game of baseball while making it fun and instructional. Gameplay focus for the kids will be to ensure that games are fast paced, exciting and encouraging. Practice focus will be to keep the kids engaged with fun and simple drills meant to keep them moving and learning.


CANADIAN TIRE MACHINE PITCH 6

When: Tuesdays & Thursdays (Some Saturdays) - 6pm to 7:30pm - End of April until Middle of June.

Where: Ross Glenn School Diamonds and Vincent Massey School Diamonds

Who:  Players Age 6


This non-competitive structure introduces the players to hitting a pitched ball. Players also being learning the fundamentals of infield play. Lots of fun drills and a positive team spirit are emphasized to keep lots of action for the kids.


SOURCE FOR SPORTS MACHINE PITCH 7

When: Mon & Wed (Some Saturdays) - 6pm to 7:30pm - End of April until Middle of June.

Where: Ross Glenn School Diamonds 

Who:  Players Age 7


New to MHLL this year, 7-years olds will be learning to hit from a pitch consistently from the mound. Emphasis at this level is still on fundamentals of the game. Players will also begin to learn outfield positions.


KID PITCH 8

When: Tues & Thurs (Some Sunday Evenings) -  6pm to 8pm - End of April until Middle of June.

Where: Southridge Diamond and Crescent Heights High School

Who:  Players Age 8


For the first time in MHLL, 8-year olds will begin to learn the fundamentals of pitching. The mound is 42' from home plate. Emphasis is given to all players having the opportunity to try pitching. Players at this level have the opportunity to try-out for the summer all-star program.


KID PITCH 9 

When: Mon & Wed (Some Sunday Evenings)  -  6pm to 8pm - End of April until Middle of June.

Where: Lions Park 1 and Optimist Park

Who:  Players Age 9


Players pitch from a mound at 46'. Introduction of stealing bases and other more advanced game rules begin to come into play at this people. Players at this level have the opportunity to try-out for the summer all-star program.


MINORS 

When: Tuesdays & Thursdays (Some Sunday Evenings) - End of April until Middle of June.

Where: Lions Park 1 and Harriet McReady

Who:  Players Age 10


MAJORS 

When: Monday thru Thursday(Some Sunday Evenings)  - End of April until Middle of June.

Where: Lions Park 2 and McDonnell Field

Who:  Players Age 11 and 12


JUNIOR 

When: Monday thru Thursday(Some Sunday Evenings)  - End of April until Middle of June.

Who:  Players Age 13 to 15


The highest level of play in MHLL, these players pitch from 60.5' and the base paths are 90'.


CHALLENGER 

When: Saturdays - End of April until Middle of June.

Who:  Players aged 4-18, or up to age 22 if still enrolled in high school


The Challenger Division was established in 1989 as a separate division of Little League to enable boys and girls with physical and mental challenges, ages 4-18, or up to age 22 if still enrolled in high school, to enjoy the game of baseball along with the millions of other children who participate in this sport worldwide. Today, more than 30,000 children participate in more than 900 Challenger Divisions worldwide.
